Anti-Transgender Bathroom Bill On The Verge Of Being Passed By South Dakota.

Despite the Unites States more positive look at the LGBT community, some states still have sterner approach toward the community. South Dakota is pushing an anti-graft Bill banning students who have identified  as Transgenders, from using student shower rooms, Locker rooms and every possible rest room in secondary and elementary institutions.

In a more detailed format, the bill states:
"Every public rest room, locker room and  shower room located in a public elementary or secondary school that is designated for student use and is accessible by multiple students at the same time shall be designated for and used by only students of thesame biological sex.
The Bill exclusively defines biological sex as:
"The physical condition of being male or female as determined by a person's chromosomes and identified at birth  by a persons's anatomy"
Although the bill did not directly focus on transgender students  but basic reasoning shows that Transgenders are clearly highlighted. The bill also seeks separate unisex bathrooms for transexual students which it tagged as " reasonable accommodation". It further indicated that such construction should only take place ,  only if the school won't be burdened by the development.

The Bill was passed on Tuesday by the state's legislature but the Governor's signature would still be needed to make it law. It is still not known what  Governor Dennis Daugaard's stand is on the law but it is believed that on a federal level, the bill could draw intense opposition and might see this intended law as a form of discrimination against Transgenders.
