Elderly Couples Living Together For 45 Years In Nigeria, Get Married At Last

Of course getting married is a good way to solidify your relationship with your heartthrob, but it really doesn't determine a guaranteed happy and successful relationship in your marital life.

Let's take a lesson from two old couples who have are in love and have been living together for 45 years without tying the knot. The man aged 72 while the woman aged 60 have been having a healthy dating life as couples for over 4 decades. They decided to make it official only recently on the 20th of February at Omega Power Ministeries Church located at Port Harcourt Nigeria. 

Announcing this marital development via the church's facebook page, the church also sponsored the weddings of 140 other couples who have been living together and not yet married for various varied reasons. When asked of the pastor why he decided to ensure these couples enjoy official matrimony, he said;

Every day I get sleepless night because of the amount of people living together when God has not joined them. IT IS A SIN BEFORE GOD. Do you know that; one out of every five people you see in the street are living together without being legally married," he said:

"If Rapture happens now , they will all miss Rapture. So what is the solution ? Solution Number one: Couples must Live apart until you get money to WED. Which is very risky. Any of those women can be my sister or maybe she already has 5 children. The woman will suffer. And a strange woman may take advantage to come in. Solution number two: Legalise their union. But many don't have money to legalize it. 

Despite the old couples marital union, some younger couples really find it hard to wed due to the depreciating situation of the Nigerian economy which have forced lots of couples to live together without officially getting married. 

Some get married when one partner has a job to support both of them while the other tries to look for means to attain a job. Jobs in Nigeria and lack of stable finances have deeply affected people's wish to get married and settle down early when due.
